T.R.U.E. - E.C.D. Academy
Training and Research Unit for Educators - Early Childhood Development Academy
The Academy has been founded in June 2004 by the manager Rajoo C. Appadoo, E.C.D consultant. The courses offered are delivered in line with latest research findings in Content and recommended methods in the field of E.C.C.E.D. for Adult Learning (P.E.M.). The programme focuses on
- Self Development for Life Long Learning and
- The Foundation Learning Areas which relate the different Areas of Child Development
Experience: The Academy has trained some 250 Preschool Educators and 170 Child Caregivers. 140 students are currently following their course.
The Academy runs Basic course in Early Child Care (0-3) for Caregivers, Proficiency Course in Early Childhood Development (0-5) for Caregivers, Preschool Educators and Form V School Leavers.
Recognition: The Training Centre and the courses are recognised by:
- The Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (ex IVTB)
- The Ministry of Education and Human Resources
- The Early Childhood Care and Education Authority
- The Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare
- The Ministry of Local Government
- Other Local and Foreign Authorities
Research: Each participant carries out 3 research works in the field of E.C.C.E.D during the course.
Intake of Students: Every January and July.
End Word: The Academy is very enthusiastic to build partnership with fellow E.C.C.E.D. professionals and institutions for exchanges in various forms.
